Pilates: Mondays & Thursdays
Pilates exercises are based on many every day movements, flowing through (not holding) positions with control, in order to create a mind/body connection. Using this way of training the body and mind, the body will learn to automatically move in the safest way when lifting, bending, twisting or when under load or stress. Pilates is a body-weight resistant exercise that creates strength, co-ordination, balance, stamina and flexibility. Pilates is primarily known for creating what is called core strength ie strength and control of the abdominal, back & buttock muscles (also called the powerhouse). These muscles are the ones that support the body in all its movements. Leigh originally learnt Pilates to try to overcome a chronic and painful back problem and was so impressed with the results that she trained to be a teacher. Leigh has been teaching Pilates for over 4 years in gyms, businesses and privately and takes particular care to ensure good and safe technique. (Leigh is VICFIT registered).
